Montgomery Family Karate Center in Montgomery, AL is a Christian-based martial arts school. The owner/ instructors are Master Carole Coker and Sensei Morris Coker. The Cokers have been involved in martial arts training practically all their lives. The form of karate they teach is called Tang Soo Do, a Korean martial art. At Family Karate Center students learn to perform as an individual and as a team. Leadership skills are foremost in the character traits they exemplify and promote.
A native of Montgomery, AL, Master Carole Coker was one of the first females to reach the level of Oh Dan 5th degree black belt in the Southeast. While she holds many titles and championships both national and worldwide,she is known to many as the "Stranger Danger Lady". She is dedicated to arming children with the knowledge and power they need to avoid or escape an abducter. Her gentle style of teaching encourages young children to come out of their shells and be bold. Master Coker is an inspiration, particularly to girls and women. She is proof that you don't have to be a 3oo pound weight lifter to defend yourself.
Sensei Morris Coker currently holds two master ranks: Godan 5th degree in Yoshukai, a Japanese karate, and Sahdan 4th degree in Atlantic-Pacific Tang Soo Do, a Korean martial art. An expert in weaponry training, Sensei Coker has trained with some of the best instructors in the world. He has a way of bringing out the best in his students. While he's tough on them to do more, he makes sure to give them the praise they deserve.
